Chocolate, Avocados and Saving Animals

This weekend was my 4-year vegan anniversary, or what I like to refer to as ‘veganversary’. I had a lovely Galentine’s day brunch planned with some girlfriends. Sadly, none of that happened due to a sinus infection. I spent 4 days mostly asleep, with breaks to read, drink tea and watch old Star Trek episodes.

Tonight I am feeling better, so I am celebrating with this chocolate, avocado banana shake.

I also decided to look up the stats for how many animals have been saved since leaving them out of my diet. This was a good way to keep me on track in the beginning, when I first struggled to switch to veganism. It makes you feel good and can keep you motivated to continue living a vegan lifestyle.

If you are new to veganism and don’t feel like you are doing much, use this to see how much of a difference you can make in a short time.

Chocolate Mousse Smoothie

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup liquid (I used rice milk)
  • 1 teaspoon agave
  • 2 tablespoons lucama powder (optional)

To make the smoothie add all the ingredients to a blender and enjoy.
